 Lifou island is located at 150 km up north from "grande terre" (the main island of New Caledonia) . This island is an old lagoon which has been brought above the sea level. Nowadays it's an eroded karstic network which doesn't have any creeks or river but has got an abundant underground network. This network of fresh water is really important and offer a large amount of quality drinkable water. |
