Making off a documentary film at Lifou

The Nautilus for guide

The "Andromed's eye" team have completed the shooting of a documentary film about Lifou's deep marine environement. The movie intended for the Brest's Oceanopolis Museum will follow the nautilus as a thread. During the day nautilus live in great depht, but in the night it can be encountered in few meters of water on the Sandal Wood bay. Those illustrate links and dependency between shallow and depth waters : the nautilus uses the whole depht of the ocean to live, feed and reproduce.

Gorgone's reef, like is name says it, is a Gorgon's garden. Some coral pinnacles arise from 40m deep and create a multicolor and exuberant life. Gorgon of several meters span are covered by anthias and wrasses.

On the 26/06/07 was the first organised dive in the cave of EJENGEN, at Nathalo tribe (Wetr district). After having done custom with Alexis Wahiobe, land owner of the cave, the team got to the entrance of the waterhole.

In close collaboration with the custom authority, the cave diving in Lifou is reborn.It was the first underground dive for 6 years when the dives were done at Leungoni. However, it has been interrupted, the passion and the attraction for those hidden treasures have been stronger, offering to 4 people (2 divers and 2 guides) a chance to catch up with this activity.

It is now possible for all confirmed level 2 divers to enjoy those unique places with the safest security conditions borrow to the seriousness of speleological excursions.

Very successfull, Lifou Fun Dive will soon proposed cave diving for less qualified divers with easier caves. The only requirement will be a good physical condition to handle the walk to the site carrying all the equipement.
